Researching your family history
Start your family history journey with the research resources available through Bonegilla Migrant Experience. Whether you're tracing a migrant ancestor, uncovering details about your family's arrival in Australia through Bonegilla, or piecing together stories from the past, these resources can help bring your family's migration journey to life.
You can search for a Bonegilla ID Card through the Bonegilla Identity Card and Memory Collection. Each person or family group at Bonegilla was registered with an ID card that recorded valuable information, including arrival and departure dates, accommodation details and other personal records.
More in-depth research, migration administrative records, passenger lists and ship records are held by the National Archives of Australia. In addition, you can explore Bruce Pennay's Re-peopling Bonegilla Online, a valuable guide to navigating these historical records.
You'll also find a range of external resources below that may assist you in researching and piecing together your family's migration story.
